Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Alan Moelleken of The Spine and Orthopedic Center

Alan Moelleken, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at The Spine and Orthopedic Center, Santa Barbara, Calif. He is a part of the attending staff at Santa Barbara (Calif.) Cottage Hospital and Goleta Valley Community Hospital in Santa Barbara, Calif. He previously served as an attending physician in orthopedic and neurosurgery at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York.

Dr. Moelleken is a diplomate with the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a member of California Medical Association, North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Medical Association. He has previously served as the chairman of the monthly Tri-County Spine Conference. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. His clinical interests include degenerative spine, lumbar degenerative disc disease, spinal deformity, spinal tumors and infections and spinal cord stimulation.

 

Dr. Moelleken earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at University of California, Los Angeles. He also completed a combined fellowship in neurological surgery and orthopedic spine surgery at New York University in New York City.
