Zimmer, Smith & Nephew Settle Bone Screw Patent Case, Leaving Terms Unspecified

Zimmer Holdings has settled its lawsuit against Smith & Nephew Inc. over a patent for a bone screw to treat bone fractures, according to a report by MassDevice.

Zimmer originally sued Smith & Nephew in January, alleging that the British company infringed a patent for a “Bone Screw for Anchoring a Marrow Nail” that Zimmer had acquired from Sulzer Orthopedics, with its Trigen nail system.

Law360 reports that the two companies’ consent order, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, did not provide details of the settlement.
