Wood May be Suitable Bone Replacement in Orthopedic Implants

A team of European researchers have postulated that wood may make a more suitable bone replacement material than previously used technologies, such as metal, plastic and ceramic, according to Med Gadget.

Rattan wood has characteristics similar to bone, such as strength, flexibility and density. It also has the ability to host transplanted cells, which brings the promise of wood-based orthopedic implants down the road.
