He said the system will “elevate” the hospital’s spine program. “Bringing AR into the operating room has the possibility of leading to smaller incisions and less invasive procedures which means less pain and faster recovery for patients,” he said.
Surgeons use the technology by putting on a headset. As they wear the headset, it determines the position of surgical tools in real time and superimposes them onto a patient’s CT data. The headset then features navigation data allowing the surgeon to see the navigation data and the patient at the same time.
