Here are five key notes on the new product launch:
1. The Lateral Retractor System was designed around the three-blade style retractor body as a cost-effective, off-the-shelf system.
2. The retractor system is meant to contain everything surgeons need for successful lateral surgery. Tyber Medical is also cost-conscious and offers the system at a competitive price, hoping to “level the playing field” with entry into the lateral lumbar market segment.
3. Tyber Medical is a private label original equipment manufacturer based in Morristown, N.J. The company develops class II orthopedic systems and pursues regulatory approval.
4. Tyber Medical also produces and markets cervical spacers, anterior lumbar devices, posterior lumbar devices and transforaminal lumbar devices.
5. The advisory board includes physicians R. Douglas Orr, MD, a spine surgeon at Cleveland Clinic, and Ira Fedder, MD a spine surgeon at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center and Towson Orthopedic Associates.
“Initial feedback from beta users is very positive and Tyber Medical is excited to be able to offer a competitive direct lateral system providing potential customers rapid access to the fastest growing segment of the lumbar fusion market,” said Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Steve Ziegler.
