The survey of medical device leaders confirmed industry loss during the COVID-19 pandemic, including delayed product launches and reduced sales, the release said. Increased demand from ASCs drove the need for device companies to reorganize field team responsibilities.
Those surveyed also said the pandemic has required leaders to adapt to a new normal and incorporate digital and remote technologies, the release said. More than half of respondents said they expect business to return to normal by the end of the second quarter of next year.
“The pandemic has turned the concept of access on its head for many industries. We’ve listened closely to the needs of the medical device industry to enable efficient remote access for training and case support,” Jennifer Fried, CEO of ExplORer Surgical, said in the release. “The forced changes have left the partners we work with in awe of digital solutions, and we aren’t surprised by the notion that these tools are here for the long haul.”
