Stryker recalls 16k+ units of orthopedic products: 5 takeaways

Stryker is recalling nearly 17,000 units of five of its orthopedic products, according to an FDA notice.

1. Units of Stryker’s rHead, uHead, Sigmoid Notch, Remotion and Radio Capitellum products are being recalled.

 

2. The company is recalling 16,992 units in total.

 

3. The company is recalling the units because packaging integrity of the units may be compromised by transportation.

 

4. The recall was designated as a class 2 recall, which is defined by the FDA as “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

 

5. Stryker reported net sales were up 2.9 percent in the second quarter of 2015 to $2.4 billion. The company’s net earnings were up 206.3 percent in the quarter to reach $392 million.
