Startup ReVivo Medical hires former Plug Power CEO: 5 things to know

Startup ReVivo Medical in Guilderland, N.Y., hired a former Plug Power CEO to help bring its biomedical surgical device to market, according to Albany Business Review.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. ReVivo Medical appointed Gary Mittleman as president and CEO. Mr. Mittleman founded Plug Power, a Latham-based fuel cell developer.

 

2. The startup designs plates to hold vertebrae together after spinal surgery.

 

3. The potential growth of the biomedical device market intrigued Mr. Mittleman to take the position.

 

4. Mr. Mittleman wants to bring the device to market in 2017.

 

5. Darryl DiRisio, MD, of Albany Medical Center and two biomedical engineers, Eric Ledet and Glenn Sanders, founded the startup.
