Medtech companies SpineGuard and Omnia Medical have received a notice of allowance for a patent application covering guidance technology for sacroiliac joint fusion.
The patent describes the application of SpineGuard’s Dynamic Surgical Guidance tissue-differentiating feedback technology to the positioning of sacroiliac fusion implants, according to a July 27 news release from SpineGuard.
The surgical kit includes Omnia Medical’s implants, instruments and biologics, in addition to SpineGuard’s PsiFGuard guidance tool. The system helps treat sacroiliac joint degeneration and pain.
The notice of allowance was issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
More than 15% of patients with back pain are estimated to have a degenerative sacroiliac joint, the release said.
