Here are five points:

1. The company reports the system represents the first commercially available pedicle screw with one-step-insertion of pedicle “smart screw” guided by DSG technology in the United States.

2. Designed for open and minimally invasive procedures, the system features a single-use SpineGuard DSG pin with a bipolar sensor.

3. The pin is inserted into the Zavation Screwdriver/Pedicle Screw’s cannnula and connected to the electronic processor.

4. The bipolar sensor notifies the surgeon of the pedicle’s cortical walls’ proximity.

5. The Z-Direct screw tip is designed in a way that provides for redirection until the screw moves past the pedicle isthmus.
