Smith & Nephew Plans to Enter U.S. Extremities Market

Smith & Nephew plans to introduce extremities surgery products into the U.S. market beginning this year, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

The PROMOS modular shoulder system, which received U.S. government approval in 2007, will be the first product introduced in the United States.

The company plans to will build an extremities business unit that will produce other devices in Memphis, Tenn., according to the report.
