Rivanna Medical starts selling Accuro device: 5 things to know

Rivanna Medical has begun selling its Accuro device.

Here five things to know:

 

1. The Accuro device is a handheld and untethered smart phone-sized device.

 

2. The Accuro device is intended for administering spinal and epidural anesthesia.

 

3. The device is designed to provide 3D navigation of the lumbar spine to help guide clinicians.

 

4. Data from a recently completed clinical study at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville showed that the device was 94 percent successful in automatically identifying the epidural space.

 

5. Rivanna Medical also announced that it is continuing discussions with three potential corporate partners.
