What you should know:

1. Private equity firm Kohlberg & Co. has owned the Carlsbad, Calif.-based medical device manufacturer since 2016.

2. Spinal Elements’ product portfolio includes cervical and lumbar interbody components, spinal fixation systems, intervention devices, vertebral body replacements, bone implants and surgical access systems.

3. Jason Blain and Jeffery Smith co-founded Spinal Elements in 2003. Today, Mr. Blain serves as president and CEO.

4. As of 2016, Spinal Elements had 111 employees.
