Pediatric orthopedic & spine device accelerator program accepting pitches — 5 things to know

The National Capital Consortium for Pediatric Device Innovation is accepting applications for its Make Your Medical Device Pitch for Kids competition.

Five things to know:

1. The contest focuses on pediatric orthopedic and spine solutions.

2. Winners will receive $50,000 and will be invited to participate in MedTech Innovator’s pediatric device innovator accelerator program, Medical Design & Outsourcing reports.

3. The deadline for pitches is April 2. Finalists will be announced April 15, and the pitch competition will occur April 30 at the University of Maryland in College Park.

4. Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Washington, D.C.-based Children’s National Health System and the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland have put on the competition annually for six years.

5. The consortium also recently added new accelerators, including BioHealth Innovation, MedTech Innovator and Smithwise as its design firm partner.
