Orthopedic Device Manufacturers’ Second Quarter Fiscal Reports Mixed

For medical device manufacturers, second quarter fiscal reports show mixed results due to the weakened economy and less visits to the physician, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

As a trend, new products have helped some companies achieve higher prices while the market for hip and knee replacements has slowed because patients may be postponing surgery, as the surgeries require high out-of pocket costs and long recoveries.

Additionally, some of the market’s difficulties can be attributed to a weakened euro.
