Orthofix earns FDA clearance for expandable spacer system: 4 takeaways

Orthofix International received FDA clearance for its Forza XP Expandable Spacer System.

1. The Forza XP Expandable Spacer System is designed to restore normal disc height in patient suffering from degenerative disc disease. Physicians expand the system after inserting it into the disc space to fit the patient’s anatomy.

 

2. Orthofix developed the system using titanium alloy, with the expandable interbodies used for posterior lumbar interbody fusion and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion procedures.

 

3. The system is designed to allow physicians continuous controlled expansion. When the desired expansion is reached, the system automatically locks.

 

4. The Forza XP Expandable Spacer System is intended for use with autografts, allograft comprised of cancellous, corticocancellous bone graft and supplemental fixation.
