The board will nominate Catherine Burzik for election to the role.

Ms. Burzik has more than 30 years of experience in executive and board member roles at medical device companies and life sciences businesses, including serving as president and CEO of Kinetic Concepts and president of Applied Biosystems.

Ms. Burzik’s experience “as a senior executive, board member and investor will provide great perspective” as Orthofix aims to “drive growth and pursue high-value solutions for patients, surgeons and hospitals,” Orthofix President and CEO Jon Serbousek said in an April 7 news release.

Maria Sainz, who served as a director for 12 years, has also decided not to seek re-election.

After Ms. Sainz’s departure, the number of board members will be reduced from nine to eight, the company said.
