Here are five key notes:
1. The two companies combined will strengthen Orchid’s position as a leading orthopedic coating company. The acquisition adds new and novel coating technologies, geographic reach and an expanded customer base.
2. The combination creates an integrated local supply chain in Europe including castings and forgings to fully finished, coated and packaged implants.
3. Alhenia’s coating portfolio includes coatings on PEEK and polyethylene, ceramic coatings, cold spray coatings, titanium on metal and ceramic and anti-bacterial coatings.
4. Alhenia is based in Switzerland and employs around 60 people. Orchid has 14 facilities worldwide and is focused on orthopedic and medical device technology.
