NIH awards RIVANNA $1.5M grant to develop anesthesia platform for orthopedic care: 3 notes

The Charlottesville, Va.-based medical device company RIVANNA has received a $1.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to fund the company’s latest image reconstruction technology.

Here’s what you need to know:

 

1. The $1.5 million grant was awarded through the Small Business Innovation Research program.

 

2. The grant will fund the development of BoneEnhance, an ultrasound-based 3-D imaging device meant to detect bone fractures in patients who present at an emergency department.

 

3. BoneEnhance is part of RIVANNA’s Accuro handheld image-guidance platform, which is used to aid providers in applying spinal and epidural anesthesia.
