Here are four takeaways:

1. Juan Torres-Reveron, MD, PhD, performed the spine surgery at Miami Valley Hospital on April 21.

2. With ROSA Spine, surgeons are able to make about three incisions 1.5 inches each.

3. The hospital purchased the robotic spine system with a Robert H. Brethen Foundation philanthropic gift.

4. Miami Valley Hospital performed its first procedure using ROSA Brain in February 2016.

“Spine surgeries require precise movements of the surgical instruments,” Dr. Torres-Reveron said. “ROSA Spine has the ability to take any movements or obstacles into account and adjust accordingly, helping to ensure that the surgical plan can be followed as closely as possible.”
