The WARN notice was processed April 27 and will take effect on May 19, the report said.

Medtronic has been closing manufacturing sites and distribution centers, according to a Jan. 9 report from the Star Tribune. The five manufacturing sites and distribution centers were set to close by the end of April.

A spokesperson told Becker’s in an email that the layoffs happened in March.

“Medtronic continually evaluates its operations and aligns our resources with our highest strategic priorities,” a statement from Medtronic said. “As part of those efforts, the company will reduce roles across our global workforce. These decisions are never easy, and we’re taking great care to treat all impacted employees with dignity and respect. Medtronic will follow fair, consistent processes and provide comprehensive transitional resources to impacted employees during this time.”
