Medtronic to Eliminate 1,000 Jobs & Hire Overseas

Medtronic announced it would eliminate 1,000 jobs, with 250 of those jobs from the Twin Cities, according to a Pioneer Press report.

The cuts come largely from the heart rhythm device unit, but the company also plans to hire 1,500 more workers over the next year to work in the growing overseas markets. Some of the new hires will also be in the United States, according to the report.

The company currently employees 45,000 people worldwide.
