Medtronic’s Stealth AXiS surgical system has earned FDA clearance for cranial as well as ear, nose and throat procedures.

The Stealth system combines surgical planning, navigation and robotics into a single intelligent system to improve surgeon precision, according to a March 27 news release from Medtronic.

In cranial procedures, the system’s AI-based automatic tractography helps surgeons generate patient-specific brain maps and visualize critical neural pathways associated with essential brain functions.

In ENT procedures, it provides advanced navigation and visualization for the anatomy of the sinuses and skull base.

The system received FDA approval for spine procedures in February.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
