A spokesperson for Medtronic confirmed the layoffs to Becker’s but didn’t say the total number of employees affected in this wave of layoffs or where affected employees were based.
“Medtronic continually evaluates its operations and aligns our resources with our highest strategic priorities,” the spokesperson said in a May 15 statement to Becker’s.
The layoffs are part of larger restructuring efforts. This year Medtronic laid off 44 employees with its Carlsbad, Calif. And in January the company shared plans to close five manufacturing plants by the end of April.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 18–20 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
