As one of the world’s largest medical device companies, Medtronic has undergone several transactions this year including one of the year’s biggest, paying $42.9 billion for Covidien in June. The transaction is expected to be complete by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.

The deal has drawn scrutiny from President Obama and lawmakers because Medtronic plans to take its headquarters to overseas to Ireland, where Covidien is based. The move will free up $10 billion for the company to fund research and development.
