Several spine and orthopedic medtech companies announced new leadership moves in the first quarter of 2025.
1. Medtronic appointed Thierry Piéton CFO. In the role, Mr. Piéton will be responsible for leading the Medtronic global finance organization and key support functions, including treasury, controller, tax, internal audit, investor relations, corporate strategy and business development.
2. Stryker’s CFO Glenn Boehnlein is retiring, and Preston Wells will succeed him as vice president and CFO. Mr. Boehnlein worked at Stryker for 22 years. Mr. Wells’ promotion went into effect April 1.
3. Spine devicemaker Accelus promoted Jim Fox to vice president of U.S. sales. Mr. Fox joined Accelus in 2019 as a sales director and was promoted to vice president of sales in the East U.S. in 2022. Under his leadership he strengthened the company’s commercial team and market awareness.
4. Zimmer Biomet is updating its board of directors, naming a new chair and lead independent director. Non-executive chair Chris Begley plans to retire from the board on May 29, and Michael Farrell will become lead independent director.
5. Zimmer Biomet appointed Kristen Cardillo to serve as senior vice president and chief communications officer. In the role, Ms. Cardillo will lead the company’s global communications strategy and improve engagement with stakeholders.
6. Stryker elevated Kim Montagnino to chief communications officer. Ms. Montagnino will lead the global communications and corporate marketing functions for the company, as well as drive strategies that strengthen Stryker’s brand, enable business transformation and support commercial growth.
