Medical Device Startup to Seek FDA Approval for Surgical Mesh

Acera Surgical, a medical device startup, is planning to seek U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for its surgical mesh this fall, and potentially bring it to market in 2015, according to a St. Louis Business Journal report.

The surgical mesh, called CeraFix Dural Substitute, is intended to improve neurosurgical procedures. The company is also working on other mesh products for hernia surgery and orthopedic surgery.

 

The company has, thus far, raised $1.3 million from investors, and it is looking to raise another $700,000 for further developments, according to the report.
