Johnson & Johnson’s orthopedics business pays $79.5M for Israeli robotics company

Synthes GMBH, Johnson & Johnson’s orthopedics company, has acquired 100 percent of OrthoSpin, an Israel-based robotics company.

The $79.5 million transaction includes OrthoSpin’s digitally enabled strut system, AutoStrut G2, according to a Nov. 4 news release from the Trendlines Group, which owned OrthoSpin. The robot automates strut adjustments for external circular fixation.

OrthoSpinwas founded in 2014. Johnson & Johnson led two investment rounds for the company.
