Four things to know:
1. Global orthopedic sales were $2.2 billion, an increase of 3.5 percent year over year, according to financial results posted April 19. U.S. sales rose 3.2 percent year over year, netting $1.3 billion.
2. Global hip and knee sales increased 9.3 percent and 6.7 percent year over year, respectively. Hip sales were $389 million and knee sales were $339 million.
3. The spine and sports segment saw an increase of less than 1 percent in the first quarter compared to the same period last year with $712 million in revenue. The trauma segment saw global sales of $748 million, a 2.1 percent increase year over year, the report said.
4. The company’s full first-quarter sales were $23.4 billion, an increase of 5 percent compared to the first quarter of 2021.
