Johnson & Johnson CEO to step down in 2022

Alex Gorsky will step down as chair and CEO of Johnson & Johnson and serve as executive chairman effective Jan. 3, 2022.

Vice chair of the company’s executive committee, Joaquin Duato, will transition into the role of CEO and a board member, according to an Aug. 19 news release.

Mr. Gorsky was named chair and CEO of Johnson & Johnson in 2012. He led the company’s growth in orthopedic medical technology. In the second quarter of this year, Johnson & Johnson’s orthopedics sales hit $2.2 billion, jumping 53.4 percent year-over-year.
