IlluminOss Medical launches patient-specific fracture system in US: 3 things to know

Shayna Korol -

IlluminOss Medical launched the IlluminOss Bone Stabilization System in the U.S.

Three things to know:

1. The system is designed for treating traumatic and fragility fractures of the humerus, radius and ulna in skeletally mature patients.

2. The IlluminOss system’s minimally invasive technology produces patient-specific intramedullary implants for fracture fixation. The device is a light-curable polymer with an expandable balloon catheter within it used to achieve bone stabilization. The procedure uses a small percutaneous surgical approach to provide patient-specific orthopedic stabilization,

3. The IlluminOss system received initial FDA clearance in December 2017 for fractures associated with metastatic bone. The minimally invasive orthopedic fracture repair company received FDA clearance for traumatic and fragility fractures in August 2018.
