Illinois hospital acquires system for improved visualization in spine surgery

Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Ill., has implemented the Orbeye 4K-3D Microscope for spine and neurosurgery procedures, according to a July 6 Daily Journal report.

Developed by medical device manufacturer Olympus America, Orbeye 4K-3D provides HD images of the patient’s anatomy on a monitor for the entire surgical team to see.

Clear images of the structural and surrounding tissue, tumors and blood vessels can be seen in real-time.

The device aims to decrease OR time, reduce surgeon fatigue and improve the patient experience.
