HSS, Lima establish innovation alliance agreement — 5 insights

Italy-based Lima Corporate and New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery have established an Innovation Alliance Agreement.

Here are five insights:

 

1. The agreement will focus on product development and a discovery lab dedicated to new technologies.

 

2. HSS and Lima are currently developing a total elbow prosthesis combining technology from an HSS patent with Lima’s Trabecular Titanium.

 

3. The two are also creating an advanced acetabular cup design.

 

4. The discovery lab will focus on new prostheses design and other joints based on HSS clinical need.

 

5. “This alliance is an important step for the future of HSS as we build upon our tradition of excellence and musculoskeletal specialization to create value-based and patient-centered healthcare solutions that include new products and services for a global market,” said Louis Shapiro, president and CEO, HSS.
