Greatbatch’s SCS system receives FDA pre-market approval: 5 things to know

Greatbatch has received FDA pre-market approval for its Algovita spinal cord stimulation system, according to a Mass Device report.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The system is intended for treating chronic intractable pain.

 

2. The rechargeable, 24-electrode spinal cord stimulation system is designed to deliver electrical pulses to the dorsal column of the spinal cord.

 

3. This is the first product developed by Greatbatch’s QiG group.

 

4. Greatbatch is finalizing the spin-off of the QiG group, which will be renamed Nuvectra.

 

5. The spin-off is slated to be completed in 2016.
