Fully threaded screws outperform triangular-implant design by 300%: Study

New data published in the Journal of Spine Surgery notes that fully threaded screw technology surpasses triangular implant design for sacroiliac joint fusion by 300% in fixation strength.

The study was led by orthopedic spine surgeon Kingsley Chin, MD, founder and CEO of KIC Ventures.

The study determined that Sacrix-brand fully threaded titanium screws achieve more than three times the axial pullout strength compared to the SI-Bone iFuse non-threaded triangular implant, which were previously an industry standard, according to a June 17 news release.

New evidence favors a modern screw design with optimized thread architecture for better anchoring. SI-Bone is now developing its own threaded screw system to compete in this space, according to the release.

The Sacrix implant is also conducive to surgeries performed in the outpatient and ASC setting.
