Hansjoerg Wyss, MD, former Synthes Corporation chair and a Swiss philanthropist, gave the $2 million to support the ongoing teaching activities for orthopedic residents and students. The health foundation’s matching gift program will provide a 20 percent match to the gift, and an anonymous donor contributed $100,000 for a total endowment of $2.5 million.
The endowment will be used to establish a chair in the department of orthopedic surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
