1. Mr. Simpson’s appointment comes on the heels of Stuart Essig’s planned transition from executive chairman to lead director.
2. Mr. Simpson’s recent experience includes serving as president of Stryker’s joint replacement division and leading the company’s performance solutions business. As part of his duties, he helped elevate bundled payment contracts and developed strategy to establish robotics as a standard of care in orthopedics.
3. Mr. Simpson is chairman of spine-focused medical technology company Surgalign Holdings, as well as a member of the President’s Council for Ridgewood, N.J.-based Valley Health System.
