Mr. Donofrio encouraged surgeons to use Exactech’s hip and knee implants by offering them consulting arrangements. He also admitted to falsifying quarterly reports to disguise payments to the physicians, according to the news report.
As a result of his guilty plea, Mr. Donofrio managed to avoid prison but has been sentenced to five years’ probation and $56,000 in fines.
