The first patient worldwide has received Spinal Alignment Solutions’ PI-Rod spinal fixation system, the company said in a June 9 release shared with Becker’s.

Micah Smith, MD, performed the procedure in Fort Wayne, Ind. The PI-Rod system features pre-contoured spinal rods designed to match a patient’s pelvic incidence category and is indicated for use with the Medtronic CD Horizon Solera Spinal System as an adjunct to lumbar and sacral fusion.

The system supports patient-specific alignment by using rods contoured to pelvic anatomy, rather than requiring surgeons to manually bend standard rods during the procedure.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
