1. MAKO Surgical currently offers partial knee and total hip replacement procedures with its robotic technology.
2. Since the FDA clearance, MAKO Surgical now has the ability to include the total knee application with the Triathlon Total Knee System.
3. Stryker is preparing to initiate a limited market release by the end of the year.
4. Stryker acquired MAKO Surgical in 2013 for $1.65 billion.
5. The MAKO robotic technology is undergoing upgrades that will enable surgeons to use the Stryker hip implants with the robot in the third quarter.
“On MAKO we turned the corner really about the midpoint of last year and you’ve seen sustained improvement and I expect that to continue,” said Chairman and CEO Kevin Lobo during the company’s second quarter financial report conference call, as reported on Seeking Alpha.
