EOS scanner cuts down number of X-rays for scoliosis patients: 5 things to know

Here are five things to know about the scanner:

 

1. The scanner eliminates the need for scoliosis patients to receive extensive X-ray scanning.

 

2. The technology captures two pictures in less than 20 seconds.

 

3. The three-dimensional technology scans patients while standing, and takes pictures of individual bones.

 

4. Orthopedists can see detailed visuals of the spine with the technology, which uses 80 percent less radiation than a traditional X-ray imaging system.

 

5. Currently, about 25 hospitals use the EOS scanner.
