Foundation Surgical’s Interwedge standalone lateral spine system was debuted at Reading (Pa.) Hospital, according to a Sept. 8 news release.

Edward DelSole, MD, performed the debut case. The Interwedge is designed to be a versatile and stable option for lateral interbody fusions.

“I think the Foundation Surgical Interwedge is going to the be the new standard in lateral interbody fusion,” Dr. DelSole said in the release. “It provides state-of-the-art anterior column fixation with the novel staple technology. I think it’s going to make the standalone lateral lumbar surgery much safer and more reliable.”

Following the debut case, Foundation Surgical plans to partner with more surgeons and hospitals to expand Interwedge adoption.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
