Dr. Andrew Cooper 1st in the US to perform meniscus replacement using the NUsurface implant: 5 points

1. Dr. Cooper performed the procedure at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

 

2. The Safety Using NUsurface, or SUN, clinical trial aims to assess the safety and effectiveness of Active Implants’ NUsurface Meniscus Implant in restoring function to deteriorating meniscus cartilage.

 

3. The NUsurface Meniscus Implant has been used in Europe under CE Mark since 2008 and in Israel since 2011.

 

4. Dr. Andrew Cooper is orthopedic surgeon at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center.

 

5. He has completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Denver.
