Dr. Abdul Baker performs robotic-assisted spinal surgery at Sanford hospital

Neurosurgeon Abdul Baker, MD, completed a robot-assisted spinal surgery at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D., reports Valley News Live.

Three things to know:

1. The patient was a 75-year-old man who was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease.

2. Dr. Baker completed his residency in neurosurgery at The University of Louisville (Ky.) School of Medicine and a fellowship in spine and peripheral nerve surgery at Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Hospital.

3. Sanford Health features 44 medical centers and nearly 1,400 physicians. It opened SMC, a 284-bed hospital, in 2017.
