Through the acquisition, DJO gained the STAR total ankle arthroplasty system and finger joint replacement products Silicone, Surface Replacement and Tactys, the release said.

The STAR ankle is a mobile-bearing total ankle replacement in the U.S. market approved for uncemented use, the release said.

The Silicone, Surface Replacement and Tactys portfolio has a 20-year clinical history, the release said. Silicone-constrained silicone elastomer joint replacements replace the affected surface of hand joints. Surface Replacement semi-constrained implants replicate the anatomic joint surfaces of joints to preserve bone, and Tactys implants are a total anatomic gliding and modular prosthesis.

“Ankle and finger arthroplasty are two fast-growing arthroplasty segments, and this acquisition reflects DJO’s focus on providing market-leading solutions to meet the greater needs of surgeons and their patients,” Brady Shirley, CEO of DJO, said in the release. “This expansion allows us to address a larger patient population and enhances our goal of helping patients return to an active lifestyle.”
