DePuy Synthes’ patent verdict, Happe Spine’s new CEO and more: 9 devicemaker notes

Here are nine developments from spine devicemakers since Dec. 7:

1. Happe Spine named Andrew Iott as its president and CEO, Mr. Iott has more than 20 years of experience in the medtech industry and is a co-founder of Globus Medical.

2. SyncAR, a spine navigation system co-developed by neurosurgeons at Hoag’s Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute, was debuted.

3. A jury ruled that DePuy Synthes, Johnson & Johnson’s orthopedic business, must pay $12 million to RSB Spine for patent infringement.

4. The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index named Medtronic as a world leader in sustainability for the 15th consecutive year.

5. Centinel Spine hit the 250th case with the Prodisc C Vico and Prodisc C SK total disc replacement systems.

6. Life Spine’s TruLift lateral expandable spacer and lateral plate systems earned FDA 510(k) clearance.

7. Surgalign reached 100 cases with the Cortera spinal fixation system.

8. Spine implant provider Spineart has partnered with surgical navigation company eCential Robotics to open augmented spine surgery training centers in the U.S. and Europe.

9. The FDA approved the market’s smallest implantable and rechargeable spinal cord stimulation system, designed by healthcare technology company Abbott.
