Four things to know:
1. Zebra-Med’s technology uses algorithms to create 3D models from X-ray images, which surgeons can use during the preoperative surgical planning stage. The technology does not require an MR or CT-based imaging.
2. The partners plan to introduce the technology as part of DePuy Synthes’ VELYS Digital Surgery solution for preoperative, operative and postoperative patient care.
3. Johnson & Johnson Medical Device Cos. introduced the VELYS Digital Surgery platform on Dec. 9, which includes patient solutions and optimization; surgical planning; surgical implementation; and post-op monitoring.

4. The agreement is between DePuy Synthes Ireland Unlimited Co. and Zebra Medical Vision.
