DePuy Orthopaedics President David Floyd Steps Down

David Floyd, who served as worldwide president of DePuy Orthopaedics since 2007, has announced his resignation to “pursue interests outside the company,” according to a Bloomberg Businessweek news report.

The device company, which specializes in spine devices, has struggled with a recent recall of its ASR XL Acetabular hip system that occurred when researchers discovered patients needed revision surgery to correct defects with the implant, according to the news report. DePuy is one of the world’s largest maker of medical devices, generating $5.59 billion in revenue last year.
