The CORE Institute in Phoenix has earned Boston Scientific’s Intracept Center of Excellence designation after interventional spine and pain management specialist Eric Feldman, MD, surpassed 100 completed Intracept procedures, according to a July 22 news release shared with Becker’s.
The designation is awarded to physicians and practices that meet six criteria, including advanced Intracept training, case volume within a defined period, and commitment to educating physicians and patients about vertebrogenic pain and treatment options.
The Intracept procedure uses radiofrequency energy to target the basivertebral nerve within the vertebrae, interrupting pain signals at their source. The outpatient procedure takes approximately 30 minutes and is the only FDA-approved treatment specifically designed for persistent low back pain, according to the release.
“Reaching Center of Excellence status is a meaningful milestone because it represents further opportunity to help patients find relief after years of chronic back pain,” Dr. Feldman said. “Earning this designation reflects our team’s commitment to providing advanced, evidence-based care and exceptional outcomes.”
Dr. Feldman performs the procedure alongside colleagues Anuj Daftari, MD, and Evan Freedman, DO. Ashley Vertuno, CEO of Arizona Market at Healthcare Outcomes Performance Co., called the designation “a testament to our organization’s ongoing investment in innovative technologies, exceptional clinical talent and patient-centered care.”
