Companion Spine acquires Backbone SAS

New York City-based devicemaker Companion Spine acquired Backbone SAS, a medtech company in Bordeaux, France.

The acquisition adds Backbone SAS’ Lisa implant to Companion Spine’s portfolio, according to a Jan. 10 news release. The implant is used in lumbar spine surgery and is designed to reduce chronic pain from degenerative diseases. 

Companion Spine has additional headquarters in Bordeaux, and its portfolio focuses on degenerative disc disease and lumbar spinal stenosis. Backbone SAS was founded in 2015.
